Scheming the Nursery Already?!?

I think I may be certifiably insane.

Why you ask?

Because I have already purchased our first piece for the nursery.

I fear that I am getting way too ahead of myself with this baby stuff…but I just can’t help it. I’ve been bitten by the baby bug!!

The Hubster and I wandered into a church rummage sale on Saturday. We found a nice vintage crib that we thought would be fun to refurbish.

I guess we were still high on the positive adoption meeting we had Friday because we both looked at each other and knew this was our future baby’s crib.

Another thing I’ve been doing that is slightly premature…

Looking at nursery themes. Aren’t I bad?

I think I’ve decided on a theme…

Noah’s Ark!

It is something both my husband and I like, plus it would work for a boy or a girl. I’m not 100% sure, but that will probably be what we go with.

Check out this adorable Noah’s Ark bedding!

The baby is probably a year away and I am in full planning mode.

Watch, I’ll have the nursery done by next week.

Kidding!!!

I’m stopping at the crib. I think.

What did you mommy bloggers do for your nursery themes? What are you mommys-to-be planning? Does anyone have other great ideas for gender neutral nurseries? Please share!

that's an awesome theme! I think that's normal and if I would be given a chance to have a kid I would want a theme something about the stars and the moon....I want a baby boy...hahaha!

You're an optimist and that's good!

How exciting. I think as long as you don't paint the room pink or blue you are on track for a gender neutral theme. Noah's Ark sounds fantastic.

I kind of fantasize about one day putting together a fairy-tale jungle theme for my future hypothetical babies.

I am right there with you my friend! My husband won't let me get any furniture yet, but I pretty much have ours picked out. ha! I've been scouring the internet for themes. My friend's mom who is also my curriculum coordinator at school paints the MOST amazing nursery murals. My friend Amy is pregnant right now and her mom painted a huge tree, tree house and all sorts of other fun things on the walls. She offered to do something in our nursery too. Which she never does for others. Only her own kids. So I feel really special.

Of course I have no idea what I want her to do. We love the beach and went to the beach on our honeymoon so I was thinking something beachy, maybe sand, water, palm trees, a tiki hut. Not sure, but it sounds fun. Pottery Barn has some really cute beachy bedding too.

Sorry for blabbing so much. I could talk about this for hours. BTW...I love that bedding you picked out!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with buying baby stuff. People do it all the time without being pregnant but while wishing. You are going to adopt and that is inevitable. You know it is coming, just not when. How does that make you any different from any other woman wishing for a baby? It doesn't! In fact I feel this is a step of faith for you as you have been on such a roller coaster! Have fun, shop neutral and don't worry about what any other person thinks.

As to themes....we did Noah's ark with both kids as we knew Ethan was a boy before he came but had no idea with Natasha. It is a good theme and not gender specific!

BTW, at 37 I do not plan on any more children but I still occasionally go baby clothes shopping for friends, just because....now that is weird.
