The future of my blog...

Lately I haven't known what to do with myself concerning this blog...I love it, most of the time. But there are times I just want to get rid of it.

I have 135 followers. Out of those people I'd say about 80 are real followers. I know this because I receive emails from you, we communicate via twitter, or you comment on my posts.

Out of the 80 people who really are following me there are about 40 that I have truly formed a connection with. These are the bloggers that keep me going...the reason that I come back.

It's been said that quality should always trump quantity and I believe that to be true with blogs. My other blog Recovery Through My Eyes is set at private and only has 7 followers. Yet I've gotten more fulfillment from writing there then writing for Diary of a Dreamer which has a much bigger following.

I'm not exactly sure what the future holds for this blog. Maybe I will whittle down my followers, maybe I will set it to private, maybe I'll just delete it, maybe I'll peace out for a bit and let the excess followers drop me one by one, or maybe I'll keep going as is....

...that is the beauty of it, it is my blog, so I call the shots. ;-)

Have a fabulous day everyone!

I totally understand how you feel. Sometimes my blog gives me so much pressure. But you are right, you call the shots. Whatever you do make sure you have fun doing it cause if you dont then its just work. :) Take care!

I understand as well. I'm in the same boat and had to take a blogging break as result of feeling discouraged. I had to remind myself why I started blogging.

I find it impossible to live my life, care for my family and read every blog I have subscribed to. I imagine it must be the same for many others out there.

If your initial purpose to blog was to write for enjoyment, forget the followers. forget the commenters,(although it's nice to receive!) Just keep writing from the heart. You will impact someone, somehow. You may not know who. In the end do what makes you feel fulfilled.

I know exactly how you feel. I ended up taking a few months off from blogging. I felt like i didn't have much inspiration even though I loved it. When I came back though, I easily found out who actually cared to follow and build some kind of connection with. Blogging is interesting...

I understand how you feel Rachel. I'm having the same feelings to and that feeling led me not to enter posts as often as before. Later on when I returned, followers un-follow me one by one and who are left are only those who really I have connection with. But from those 99 followers only few, like 20 were really taking the time to communicate with me and as long as I have them, I will keep moving.

I'm concern with my real blogger friends. I hope you wouldn't delete this one but if you feel like doing it, at least I have you on twitter.

I guess you have to ask yourself what you goal was when you started this blog and have you met it yet. Do you want to meet it. Is it worth your time and effort. This should be a give-give or win-win situation. As Captain Jean Luc Piccard would say, "Make it so!"

Oh sweetie, I totally understand. I haven't been blogging much lately at all. For one I just don't feel it. And my mother-in-law founf out about my blog and reads it now. Not that I ever bashed her or anything, but there are lots of things I don't want her to know. I feel like stRting over and letting those that really care follow and the others can just dwindle away.
I know I've been a bad friend lately. I've been busy with school and honestly just a little down. Just sick of waiting. Anyway I am still keeping up with you and praying for you!
Hugs!

I understand your thoughts! If you feel more fulfillment from the other blog and you want to share it with your true followers, I would definitely support you and read it over there (unless you want to keep it private). Blogs can be a lot of pressure to keep up with! Everyone seems to be blogging and there are a ton of blogs out there, and you start to think "Now, what makes mine so special, exactly?!" It's yours!

The people who really are interested in it will still be here if you take a little hiatus. Just like the other commenters said, think about why you originally started blogging and go for there. If you write from the heart and share things that you are really passionate about, you will feel fulfilled.

I support whatever decision you make!

p.s. I tagged you in my latest post if you want to participate! (Kind of feel bad about mentioning it after reading this post. lol)
