Making Company Feel at Home

It is important to me that guests feel welcome and comfortable in my home. There are a few things that I always am sure to have done when preparing for guests. One of those things is to make a “company gift basket”. It doesn’t have to be extravagant. Just whatever you have the time and money to prepare.

Here is what I made when our nephews stayed over-

And here is the one I made when my Aunt, Uncle and their kids stayed over-

Keep in mind your guests personalities when putting together the basket. If you know they love to read before bed including a book or magazine is a nice gesture. If you know they adore chocolate chip cookies bake a batch for them before they arrive.

I called my aunt before her families arrival and told her they didn’t have to pack shampoo, tooth brushes, tooth paste or soap for their trip. She commented on how nice that was and how much easier it was to not have to worry about bringing those things. Who would have known such a little gift would help out so much!

What do you do to prepare for overnight guests? I’d love to hear your ideas!

Thanks for your nice comment in my blog, yes I am going to post pics of the kitchen progress in my blog - we hope to start this fall.
The gift baskets for your guest is a lovely idea, I am sure they love it.

I always try to prepare a special starter for guests that feels festive, like deep fried appetizers or home-style fondue. I have also been known to invent a themed cocktail or two.

You're so sweet!!!

Whenever I have guests at home, I asked them before the event on what food they want and prepare it for them. I also include snacks and bread for emergency :)

I have shampoo, conditioner and toothpaste at stock which they could use!
