Re-thinking Beauty

I watched the documentary America the Beautiful last night.

Basically it exposes how brainwashed we are in America when it comes to beauty.

Did you know that a 12 year old girl could be modeling the women’s clothing you are looking at?

Did you know that the diet and makeup industry rake in millions by making women feel inferior to air brushed and altered images?

I’ll be honest, I cried.

My heart breaks for our society that has become so wrapped up in image.

So now I am on a mission.

I am going to commit to wearing less makeup.

I am not going to feel guilty about wanting dessert.

I am thinking about changing the name of my blog as well…I do love fashion, but not the type of fashion the media sells us. That is unhealthy.

Please check out America the Beautiful. I truly believe it is a must see for all women.

I will undoubtedly be blogging further on my quest to wear less makeup and my blogs name change.

Does anyone want to embark on this with me?

I figure if we all spend less time in our day worrying about our appearances we can spend that time being useful or making a difference.

Why not join together so that we can set a good example for the girls in our lives. Lets be women they can look up to for the right reasons!

Great post girl! I started a few years ago to stop wearing as much makeup as I did before - I was made up as a doll EVERY SINGLE DAY - I've stopped that now, and try to keep it to special occasions.

Great post!!!

I was thinking about you today when I made my twibbon for I am Latino 2, a cause that I would love for you to join - http://twibbon.com/join/I-AM-LATINO2 - but my point is that it says on the page that you can create your own causes, and this seemed perfect for your new goal!
